About Me

My name is Alein Haddad-Perez, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York, New Jersey, and Colorado, with a private practice in Montclair, NJ.

My clinical work focuses on complex trauma and dissociative experiences, particularly relational and developmental trauma. I am truly honored to be considered as a supportive facilitator in your journey of self-discovery and growth.

Who I Work With

Many of my clients struggle with complex trauma, persistent anxiety and depression, chronic pain and unexplained physical ailments, as well as relationship challenges, including parents who seek to repair their connection with their estranged children.

Many of my clients have faced:

• Significant childhood trauma (including physical, emotional, or sexual abuse or neglect)
• Severe mental, emotional, or physical symptoms
• Feelings of isolation from themselves and the world around them
• Difficulty sustaining long term relationships
• Challenges with feeling better even after seeing multiple therapists without experiencing relief

How I Work

My therapeutic approach is relational, experiential, and integrative of the various modalities and tools that I have trained in. Together, we will focus on the relational and experiential aspects of our work, while also gently exploring the story of what has happened to you and engaging in problem solving where needed. We will begin to attune to the hidden language of your body, emotions, and relationships, while tapping into the wisdom of your nervous system and inner knowing.

As we begin this work together, I will accompany you on your journey of self-discovery, guiding you toward a more thriving life. My approach to therapy is gentle, compassionate, and client-centered. I understand that certain barriers and fears may arise as we explore painful experiences. I take pride in my ability to support your therapeutic goals by integrating a variety of traditional treatment models with creative and non-traditional methods.

My Philosophy

Trauma does not have to be a life sentence. It is my core belief that all humans are inherently resilient with an innate capacity to heal from trauma and live rich, fulfilling lives. If you don’t share this belief, don’t worry—I will hold this hope for you as you begin to develop your own confidence in your inner strength.

I am humbled by my clients' resilience and relentless fight for life. Trauma healing is uncomfortably hard work. My role is to serve as a facilitator of your therapeutic journey—to walk alongside you and hold a steady container for you to revisit, work through, and move beyond your painful past experiences.

My primary focus is to first develop a therapeutic connection that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and compassionate, as healing can only emerge when you feel safe, seen, and understood.

My Values and Commitment

As an indigenous person who has experienced various forms of systemic oppression and adversity, I understand the importance of a therapeutic space that is committed to anti-racist decolonization work, and that acknowledges the impact of these systemic factors on mental health, sense of identity, and overall well-being.

As a member of the BIPOC community who immigrated to the US from a different cultural and systemic context, I recognize my blind spots in the context of working with individuals from different historical, racial, or social backgrounds. I am committed to ongoing education and self-reflection to deepen my understanding of those who have been marginalized in our society.

I remain engaged in ongoing learning, consultation, and reflective practice, including regular participation in clinical and peer supervision, ethics and consultation groups, as well as continued professional development, while also remaining committed to my own decolonization process.
